Please not that if you would like to receive a tax statement regarding your donation you will need to donate via Transnational Giving Europe (TGE). TGE has banks in most European nations and those banks will provide you with the necessary documents for your taxes.

Here is how the donation process works:

STEP ONE: Download this PDF which lists the banks and contacts within each European country that accept donations. The PDF is from Transnational Giving Europe, an organisation that works with charities and provides a means for a charity to collect donations from across Europe without needing to establish a presence in each country.

There are two exceptions to the TGE donation pipeline:

SWITZERLAND
Donors living in Switzerland and wanting to make a donation of at least 500 CHF should first contact the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation before making their donations. Contact: Sabrina Grassi – [email protected] – +41 22 732 55 54

UNITED KINGDOM
Donors living in the UK should first contact the Charities Aid Foundation before making their donations. The CAF will send the giver relevant documents for tax purposes. Please email [email protected] and write “SVG Europe Sports Broadcasting Fund Donation” in the subject line. A member of the CAF team will respond quickly with details on how to process your donation.

STEP TWO:

When you find your country on the TGE it will list the bank within that country that manages the fund. There is also a line marked “Communication.” When making your donation please write “TGE-Sports Broadcasting Fund Europe-Belgium” in the payee line.

Here’s how it all began…

In 2011, a freelance cameraman in the United States, Jeremy Schultz, passed away following injuries sustained during a fire at his home. His death and the loss of the home left his family in a nearly impossible position as they lost their home and all of their possessions.

In the following weeks, however, CBS, with the help of the Alma Foundation and SVG, was able to raise more than $50,000 to help his family begin to rebuild their lives and pay for medical bills.

The new relationship between the Alma Foundation and SVG led, ultimately, to the decision to create the Sports Broadcasting Fund and help many more of those in need. Since its inception the fund has helped dozens of people who have suffered from illness, been unable to work due to an injury or surgery, those who have lost a home due to disaster, and much more.
